The holidays can be a time of celebration, but it can also be a time of stress. Children thrive on routine and structure so although the holidays can be fun, the time off of school or changes at home can prove difficult for some.

Be a friend with a "Buddy Bench"
I read this heartwarming article about a 2nd grade student who wanted to help his peers at school who seemed lonely at recess time. The idea was to build friendships and empathy for others by creating a place for students to go to called a "Buddy Bench."

I am thankful for..
As the holiday season approaches, I think about the things I am thankful for such as my family and friends. As a school social worker, I reflect on my role and continue to search for different ways to support the social/emotional health of my students.
